Building Careers That Actually Move Forward

We started Movana because we kept seeing the same problem. People hitting walls in their careers not because they lacked talent, but because they didn't have the right guidance at the right moment.

Back in early 2023, our founding team was consulting with tech companies across Malaysia. We noticed something odd—brilliant professionals stuck in roles that didn't fit them, simply because no one had helped them map out where they could go next.

That's when we decided to build something different. Not another generic career platform, but a place where professionals could get honest advice about their next steps. We launched properly in April 2024, and since then we've been refining our approach based on real conversations with real people trying to figure out their career paths.

How We Actually Help

Our approach isn't complicated. We talk to you about where you are and where you want to be. Then we work backwards to figure out the practical steps that'll get you there.

Most career development feels abstract—lots of talk about "personal branding" and "networking strategies" without much substance. We focus on tangible skills and concrete opportunities instead.

  • One-on-one sessions that focus on your specific situation rather than generic advice
  • Skills assessment that identifies actual gaps, not just theoretical weaknesses
  • Industry insights from professionals who've navigated similar transitions
  • Practical timelines that account for real-world constraints like current job commitments

We work with professionals at different stages—from fresh graduates trying to land their first meaningful role, to mid-career folks looking to pivot into something new. Each journey looks different, but the foundation is the same: honest assessment, practical planning, consistent progress.

What Guides Our Work

We've built Movana around a few core principles that shape how we operate and what we recommend to the people we work with.

Realistic Expectations

Career transitions take time. We don't promise overnight transformations because they don't exist. What we offer is a clear roadmap and support while you put in the work.

Industry Connection

We stay connected to what's actually happening in various sectors. Our recommendations come from current market realities, not outdated career wisdom.

Individual Context

Your career path shouldn't look like everyone else's. We account for your background, constraints, and goals when mapping out next steps.

The People Behind the Platform

Our team combines HR experience, industry expertise, and career coaching backgrounds. Azmina Ishak spent eight years in talent acquisition before joining us—she knows what employers actually look for. Raj Subramaniam came from the tech sector and understands the skills gap between formal education and real-world work.

We also work with a network of advisors across finance, healthcare, engineering, and creative industries. When you need specific insights about a sector, we connect you with someone who's lived that career path.

We're based in Subang Jaya, which puts us right in the middle of Malaysia's professional hub. That geography matters because we're constantly meeting people from different industries, attending sector events, and staying current with what's changing in the local job market.

Our Development Process

We structure our work around practical outcomes. Each engagement follows a similar pattern, though the details shift based on individual needs.

Assessment Phase

We start by understanding your current position—not just your job title, but your actual skills, interests, and constraints. This includes reviewing your work history, discussing what you enjoy doing, and identifying what you want to change.

We also look at practical factors like financial considerations, time availability, and any commitments that might affect your timeline. Career development happens in the real world, not in a vacuum.

Strategic career planning and goal-setting consultation

Planning and Execution

Once we understand where you are and where you want to be, we build a practical plan. This might include specific skills to develop, courses or certifications to pursue, or connections to make in your target industry.

We break larger goals into smaller milestones so you can track progress. And we adjust as you go—sometimes the path changes based on new opportunities or shifting priorities, and that's normal.
